Queen guitarist thinks Rock Band Queen will happen.
In addition to SingStar, Queen may be also getting their own
Rock Band game, according to an interview with Queen guitarist Brian May on the
BBC. May says that talk about the deal has been "going on behind the scenes," and that they'd be "into it." May seems confident in the deal, and the recent addition of his avatar in Lego Rock Band may have solidified his confidence. "It's the ultimate accolade, to be portrayed in Lego," as May sees it. "My dreams are all fulfilled now." Lego Rock Band releases next month on the 10th.
Tyler says: I did play SingStar Queen, and though I thought I knew the Queen library, I realized that there are a bunch of songs that I didn't know were Queen songs. For example, "Fat Bottom Girls," I had no idea that was a Queen song. So while I realize Queen doesn't have the impact of say, The Beatles, they do have a multi-decade-spanning career, so at least there's a lot to dig into.
Back when U2 was clamoring for their own Rock Band game I asked what bands you folks wanted to see get their own games, but no one suggested Queen. The Who and Led Zeppelin were the most popular, so I have to wonder if band-specific music games are a good idea. Sure it worked for The Beatles, but most other bands are too divisive to net a wide audience.
