Sorry, Modern Warfare 2 ninjas, Infinity Ward is pulling the Commando Perk from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, making the love it/hate it superhuman surge of speed favored by melee fighters a thing of the past.

Responding to a fan's Twitter question about melee attacks in Modern Warfare 3, Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling said, "It's been balanced, plus Commando is no longer in the game. Beyond that, you'll have to wait and see."

When will we "get to see?" Activision's Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer reveal is set for the publisher's inaugural CoD convention, Call of Duty XP, set for September 2 and 3 in Los Angeles. Bowling promises "big things" are planned around the event featuring "lots of details" about the MW3 multiplayer.

Modern Warfare 3 is now in development for Windows PCs, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The game is scheduled for launch on November 8.

Spy Guy says: I've got to admit, few things were more satisfying in Modern Warfare 2 than pulling off a long-distance melee kill using the Commando Perk. Was it ridiculously unbalanced and virtually impossible to defend against? Yup. Still fun, though. Will you miss going Commando in Modern Warfare 3?
