On the heels of the successful launch of CoD4's Variety Map Pack on Xbox Live Marketplace, Infinity Ward has announced its release date for the new DLC in the updated PlayStation Store. Fortunately, the wait won't be too long: the new content debuts with tomorrow's weekly update.

As a consolation for patient PS3 owners, the developer has some big plans. The biggest news is that it will launch a double-XP weekend over PlayStation Network starting at midnight GMT (that's five hours ahead of the East Coast and eight ahead of the West Coast) on Friday that wraps at midnight Pacific on Sunday night. Theoretically, if you're Stateside, you can start shooting your way up to Prestige as soon as you get home from work tomorrow to buy the new maps. Fun stuff! The Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Variety Map Pack for PS3 will be available on the PlayStation Network on Thursday, April 24th for both North America and Europe!

Additionally, there will be a PS3 Variety Map Pack Double XP Weekend Extravaganza! Enjoy Double XP all weekend for both continents from 12:01 AM GMT on Friday, April 25th to 11:59 PM PDT on Sunday, April 27th. We are also making Friday, April 25th a "Play with the Devs" day. The Infinity Ward team will be playing online on Friday, April 25th from 11AM to 2PM PDT and from 5 PM to 8 PM PDT.
