Rage to be published by Bethesda Softworks.
ZeniMax Media Inc., parent company of id Software, announced that it has acquired the publishing rights to the post-apocalyptic shooter
Rage. As a result,
Bethesda Softworks, a ZeniMax subsidiary, will be publishing the title. Electronic Arts showcased Rage at E3 2008, and was the publisher at the time. The move to a new publisher will not affect development of the game. ZeniMax procured id Software in June.
Tyler says: Rage was trumpeted under the EA Partners banner back at E3 2008, and from the look on Carmack's face at the time (yes, I was there) he seemed happy, no, tickled with the partnership. But I guess ZeniMax's acquisition of id Software back in June should have set off alarms that something would change. At least the actual
game isn't changing.
